The CDC labels the mosquito as the world deadliest animal.
Why?
Because mosquitos spread diseases like malaria, dengue, West Nile, yellow fever, Zika, chikungunya, lymphatic filariasis, and more.
And it’s hard to tell you got any of the above until you experience symptoms.
The most common mosquito-borne disease in the continental United States is the West Nile virus.
When an infected mosquito bites you, symptoms include fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash.
The thing is, there are no vaccines to prevent or medicines to treat West Nile.
You just have to prevent mosquito bites from happening.
And mosquitos don’t discriminate by species…
Which means your dog or cat can get bit too.
Young, old, and immune-compromised pets are most likely to have complications of WNV.
The symptoms of WNV in dogs include depressions, decreased appetite, difficulty walking, circling, seqzures, muscle weakness, spasms, and fever.
(Of course, if you see any of these signs in your pet, see a veterinarian immediately.)
But, you can protect your pets from getting bit in the first place.
Here are three ways you can protect your pet, and your family, from getting bit by mosquitos.
Eliminate Mosquito Breeding Sites
Stop them at the source. This includes overgrown grass, weeds, and standing water. Even a flower pot, dosa can, or coffee cup partially filled with rainwater can breed mosquitos.
Make sure your lawn is regularly mowed and cared for and any still water sources are removed.
Use Barriers For Your Household
Keeping mosquitos away from your home is a critical step in keeping your pets safe.
Install or repair screens on windows and doors to keep mosquitos outside - where they belong!
Spray And Trap Mosquitos
Fogging your front and back yard where mosquitoes live will help eliminate them on the spot. We’ll send mist into the targeted area and the insecticide will kill any mosquitos that fly around the area.
As a bonus, fogging also kills fleas, cockroaches, ants, spiders, silverfish, and many other insects!
The combination of fogging and trapping mosquitos with our In2Care Mosquito Stations will dramatically reduce the amount of mosquitos that appear around your household.
